Does anyone know of a family named CHALLIS from Sonning around the 1820's ?
James Challis from Compton 1801. Wife Sarah Betteridge born Sonning. Children Ann b.1824 . James, Harriet, John and Mary all born Sonning.
They moved to Compton and had more children around the 1830's
Any help with dates and places would be great.

Hi
Mary Challis b 1827 was my G.grandmother She moved to Compton when she married. I would be interested in any info you might have. I may be able to help you with info too.
Mary's family seem to have moved between Lambourne Sonning and Compton. She had many siblings and they are scattered, mostly in the Berkshire area.

James Challis was son of William and Francis and christened Compton, one of 10.
There is a double Woodage connection with this Challis family (Mary and James), and a link to Butlers of Goring. I haven't followed all the families. Can help if you send me a PM.
