Hello,
I'm trying to find 2 families who lived as neighbours or together in Row Road, Keysoe, 1851.
Richard Beeby - 57 - ag lab - b Eaton Socon (sometimes Beebe, Beebee, Bebee)
Mary - 55 - b Northamptonshire
James (son) - 18 - ag lab - b Keysoe
and
William Baker - 68 - (Pauper at 78) - b Hunts, Bythorn
Rebecca (dau) - 37 - Lacemaker - b Bedfordshire, Dean
Reason being, I have a Mercy Jane Baker (b Eaton Socon, ca1824) who married Amos Beeby (b Keysoe) in 1847, and her father was William Baker, tailor, while Amos was illegitimate. I found it interesting to find these two names side-by-side in 1851 on the Keysoe census, with Eaton Socon mentioned again.

Are you connected to JJS who posted a request for the same Baker family a few days ago on this board? The CDrom set for 1841 missed a few census pages in Upper Dean and Keysoe, and I'm waiting for the missing pages to be scanned and sent to me. If in Keysoe the Bakers are in those missing pages - they're not next door to the Beebees as in 1851.
Hang on for a few days until my missing pages arrive!

William Baker was my 5 x great grandfather and his daughter, Rebecca, was my 4 x great grandmother.
I've only just started looking into the Baker side of the family. However, I do know that William married Mary Bell on 8 April 1799 in Dean. They had moved to Keysoe by at least 1822.
As far as I know, they had the following children:-
Elizabeth - christened 3 June 1800 in Dean. She married Thomas Knighton on 14 October 1822 in Keysoe and went to live in Raunds, Northants. Their children were Rebekah, Emma, Elias, Enoch, Jane and William. Emma Knighton (born about 1831) married a Richard Beeby on 14 October 1852 in Raunds.
James - christened 15 March 1801 in Dean
William - christened 26 September 1802 in Dean
Rebecca - christened 25 March 1804 in Dean. She died on 20 December 1872 in Pirton, Herts. Her daughter, Eliza (my 3 x great grandmother), was born on 19 April 1827 in Keysoe. There was also another daughter, Zillah, born about 1839 in Keysoe.
Enoch - christened 1 February 1807 in Dean.
This is all I know at present but, if I find out anything else, I'll get in contact.

I can't see any extra obvious links - at first glance - but will have a good think about it. Did you happen to know of William's occupation, from a certificate of any kind?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything else about William Baker - if I manage to track down a death certificate for him, I'll let you know what his occupation was.

If you look in the Bedfordshire Muster Lists [published by http://www.bedfordshirehrs.org.uk/ ]
You will see that on the 1803 National Defence Muster list - Wm BAKER is listed in Dean as a labourer with 5 children under the age of 10.
There is also another Wm BAKER listed in Dean as an unmarried servant ...
In Keysoe, Wm BEBEY is listed as a married volunteer and Richard BEBEY as an unmarried volunteer in 1803.
