I am researching the history and genealogy of the above Villages which are situated in what is now South Yorkshire. My website http://johndoxey.100freemb.com (http://johndoxey.100freemb.com) at the moment has 150 pages of information. Plus the history of Silverwood Mine. If you have any information or you are seeking information regarding the people who lived in this area pre Roman to the 20th century I would like to hear from you. If you are interested in the Yorkshire Dialect there are five pages of it on the site.

Hi John
Thanks for the link. Sorry you haven't had any response to your posting - have you found out anymore since you placed it that might prompt a response from someone?
Best wishes

Hi Ticker,
Thanks for your response, and offer, but the Thrybergh site has had a terrific response via the site using my email address. Last time I checked out 3 months ago it had logged up over 70,000 hits. Local Schools also use the site to research local history. So possibly some of those hits have come from this site. Maybe people like to check it out before replying, and as there is my email address on every page they use that rather than return and post a message here.
Thankfully people do post messages here and Rootschat has become a terrific resource for everyone, so keep up the good work.
I will add some more links to Rootschat on my other sites also.

Hi John,
I have a Harriet Grindle of Thrybergh, bapt July 2nd 1820, daughter of Richard and Sarah Grindle.
Haven't found any info about Richard and Sarah yet. Have you come across the Grindles in Thrybergh?

Hi there John,
I was just browsing and came across this thread, about three or four minutes ago I posted a message on the bible page – the bible in question was belonging to a relative of the Doxey family so you may want to have a look, here is the posting
I recently found this family bible for auction on ebay, there was a remote possibility that it could have belonged to my ancestors. But unfortunately it had been sold only a few days before for what can only be described as a giveaway price. Although I missed out on this bargain I would be interested to know where it ended up if anyone knows how I can find out please help.
Have a look at the bible on this site.

Hello Denn,
Many thanks for the info on the bible I will check it out. I notice you are researching Platts, they were well established in Thrybergh the most famous being one John Platt during the 1800's. The name was still there when I left in 1969.
I am in Sydney on the other side of the big Island, just getting ready to watch Friday night Rugby [ football here in Australia ]
Best Regards,
John

You are right,
what a bargan! the bible is fantastic. I don't know if this family of Doxey's is related to me but it is possible. There were a lot of Doxey's in the Wirksworth area, I am stuck around 1790 with my tree due to lack of records.
Thanks again Denn

Hello Everyone,
I posted this message yesterday, but for some reason it hasn't appeared-so I'll try again!
I was born in Thrybergh as was my husband and we lived there for over 40 years. If anyone wants any current info or is trying to contact anyone, then we may be able to help.
Jean :)
