I have just found TWO references to a person that I am searching for, both of them have her born in the same quarter in the same place,
Vol. 6 Page 298, September Quarter, 1849 Amersham, Bucks
Vol. 6 Page 285, September Quarter, 1849 Amersham, Bucks
It would be great if somebody could locate this lady, Unity Smith,
for me in the 1851 census, possibly two references? It may help me sort which one is mine!
Thanks.

Hi Bram,
Have been trying to get to our local library for a couple of weeks but had not had chance. It is in the centre of Milton Keynes and is now full of manic shoppers if you can bear with me as soon as I get chance to nip in I can check the parish records for you .They have 99%of them fully readable on film.
BE BACK WHEN POSS.

Hi Bram
I realise your post is a little old, and you may have sorted everything out by now, but I'm a new member here and only just came across it.
My family tree contains a Unity Smith from the Botley / Tylers Hill area of Chesham. The details I have are as follows –
Unity Smith (Aug 8th 1849 – Sep 1929) is the daughter of John & Mary Smith (nee Atkins). Six other children in the family – Sarah Ann (b1832), Elizabeth (1834), Ann (1836), William (1841), Henry (1843), and James (1846).
Unity married William Hewitt (b1848) on Sep 28th 1869, and they had a son William (b1874). William married Jane Elizabeth Burgin (b1873) on Dec 25th 1893
If you are looking for more information, please let me know and I may be able to help.
Kind regards
Rich

Hi, I have just found a quick moment for a check and it seems it is like this:- My wife's mother was an Eggleton originating in Chesham, Bucks and one of her relatives, her great grand aunt, Mary Eggleton married James Hewitt and thir second eldest child William Hewitt married Latimer Unity Smith. She was born 16 September 1849.
Hope that helps explain where I am at?Kind regards

Hi Bram
Re post by Tazzie: Definitely the Smiths from Botley, Chesham and NOT the Smiths from Amersham I would say.
I can’t find any reference to Latimer as part of her name though. Every reference (birth, marriage, census), is just Unity Smith (or later Unity Hewitt). Latimer is a village not far away, and the parish church there seems to have been a popular wedding venue at that time, (several of my family were married there). I would suggest this is perhaps where she got married to William, and the name has somehow become attached.
I have found some additional children for Unity and William.
Frederick (b1870)
George (1873)
Ernest (1877)
Anne (1883)

My family also originate from Chesham, and I still have some relatives living there.
Although I am not directly related to this particular Smith family, I have a connection through the husband of one of my Aunts. His ancestral line comes down from Unity’s sister Ann Smith.
Kind regards
Rich
