Hi,
I am trying to confirm that Alexander Oppenheim was a member of our family however, I cannot find the birth information for him.
I have found his birthdate and place listed on his career information as he was a mathmatician who studied in England and eventually taught in America and Singapore. Here is what I have:
Alexander Oppenheim. Born February 4th 1903, died December 13th 1997
Born in Salford, Lancashire
Any help would be fantastic. Thanks in advance for your time and energy.

FreeBMD has this birth:
March quarter 1903
Salford RD
Volume 8d p. 92
Any use?

Thanks Tanya that's a great start as some of the information I had listed the same day in 1902.
Without a census to go by, it is going to be difficult to establish to his parents were.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed (toes too!) :-*

:( You'll probably have to order his birth cert ...

You're right Tati,
this is a bit of a long shot as I was hoping someone may have come across the name before.
warmest wishes

Hi,
Prof. Sir Alexander Oppenheim was my grandfather. We don't know much about his parents other than his dad was Harry and mother nee. Fanny Ginsberg, you will find this in the records on Who's who + obituarys in Uk papers online. We understand that Harry + Fanny left Lithuania with 1 daughter but Grandad and his other sisters were born in Salford. Harry had brothers who went to the USA but they didn't keep in touch. His surviving sister Hannah is 104, but very incoherrant [dementia]

Hi Erika,
Welcome to RootsChat :)
Since this thread was first posted, the 1911 census has become available . Lookups are not allowed but a quick free search suggests that Alexanders dad also went by the name of Jacob Harris Oppenheim. The 1911 census shows 5 sisters.

Thanks everyone,
I am reallypleased we were able to find someone who knew of the Oppenheim I was seeking here.
I do believe at this stafe that there is no link however, I will embark on some research of all the Oppenheims in Lancashire, Derbyshire and Cheshire soon and will post a link to this information when I make it available.
I trust this finds you well and warm in this early winter snow.
Blessings,
Kirsten
