Title: Huntingdon
Post by: Huntingdon on Tuesday 29 November 05 05:36 GMT (UK)
Does anyone have any information on the Huntingdon family up to and including Vincent Huntingdon.  He would have left to Canada at a young age in the early 20th century.

Thanks

Welcome to Rootschat.

Somewhat perversely there are no Huntingdons from Huntingdonshire in any census or in the BMD indexes up to 1910.

The only Vincent to show up was in Sheffield , Yorkshire, but you really need more information about him. Did he marry in Canada? If so do you have his marriage certificate? (If it's similar to English ones then it will show his father's name)

A George Vincent Huntingdon was born in Sheffield in the March quarter 1898, and a William Vincent Huntingdon was married in Sheffield in the September quarter 1896 to Clara Emmitt. This family appear in the 1901 census in Sheffield as Huntington as follows
RG13/4332 folio 77
70 Bolsover Rd, Sheffield
William Vincent Huntington head married 28 Mechanic and Engineers turner born Darnall, Yorkshire
Clara Huntington wife 29 born Sheffield
George Vincent Huntington son 3 born Petsmoor Yorks
Ellen Huntington mother widow 57 Living on own means born Sheffield

Whether or not this might your grandfather's family I cannot say as there is simply insufficient information.

Regards

David

Poyntington, Dorset (surname Dyke)

Someone was nice enough to put Parish register on-line.  However, this included only Baptisms.  I am looking for Marriage information in the mid to early 1800's.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Welcome to Rootschat

You'd stand a better chance of success by starting a new thread, stating exactly what you're looking for, on the Dorset board, rather than tacking your query onto an old unrelated thread on the Hunts board

I see you managed to post on the Lancs board, which is where you need to be, so you haven't wasted your time. No idea what the money making scam sites are that you refer to.
