Any help would be appreciated searching for the WILSONs of Beverley.
JOHN WILSON b1831d1890 occ Cordwainer m Harriet HallCertificates give his father as a FRANCIS WILSON occ. Cordwainer possibly married tom a Jane Hardbattle.
Does anyone have any info. on Francis' siblings or parents and also Johns siblings. For John a Sarah Shaw Wilson 1826, Emma Richardson Wilson 1828, Mary Jane Wilson 1836 and Ann Elizabeth Wilson have been suggested as possibilities and there could be more.
JOHN then had several children some who did leave the area when married Emily, Mary Jane, Ada, John William 1863, Selina. Ann, Sarah, Harry and Harriet 1878.
Any info. on John William who appears to have disappeared after the 1901 cencus or Harriet would be gratly appreciated.
Having Wilson as a surname is a nightmare Many thanks.

1851 census:
HO107/2361/419/4 - Sculcoates, Yorks
Francis Wilson Head 48 Cordwainer Journeyman b. Beverley
Jane " Wife 49 b. South Dalton
Emma " Dau 22 Servant (Domestic) b. Beverley
Ann E " Dau 13 Scholar b. Beverley
David Port Lodger 20 Cordwainer b. Beverley
Based on Francis' age and birthplace in this census, there is a good match on the IGI:
Francis Wilson, son of John Wilson and Mary, chr. 16 Oct 1803, St Mary & St Nicholas, Beverley.
One other child christened in the same church by John and Mary: Elizabeth (28 Jul 1805).
Also several children christened from 1806 onwards in St John & St Matin, Beverley - possibly by the same John and Mary Wilson, but as you say, it's a common name...

Found Jane in 1861:
RG9/3581/97/8 - 48 New George St, Sculcoates
Samuel Earle Head 49 Cordwainer b. Hull
Mary " Wife 48 b. York
James Wilson Earle Son 15 b. Hull
Jane Wilson [ink splodge] Lodger Wid 59 Charwoman b. South Dalton
Mary Jane Wilson Lodger's Dau 25 b. Wardsford
Robert Wilson Lodger's Son 5 b. Hull
I presume Robert is Mary Jane's son!
Could Mary Earle be Francis Wilson's younger sister? The son has Wilson as a middle name, which suggests the families are related in some way. ???

Thanks for your help. Found a George Wilson living with a Mary on the 1841 Census at New George St. 1851 Mary still living there but widowed and then oby 1861 census she had remarried to Samuel Earle. Unfortunately the only George I can find around that time had John and Christiana as parents. I'll keep on searching but thanks.

Hi, I know I'm many years late to this thread, but did you find out more about Francis? He's one of my ancestors too (through his daughter Sarah Shaw Wilson).
Thanks!
