Title: 1841 census - Andrews in Greenwich
Post by: gss on Saturday 26 November 05 12:28 GMT (UK)
If SKS has access to the 1841 census for the Greenwich area I am wondering
whether they could look up an entry for me.

Sarah ANDREWS bap 1785 should be living there, I am interested in finding
out whether her husband Mat(t)hew ANDREWS a miller was living with her at
that time. By the 1851 census (North Place, Greenwich) Sarah is a widow and I have found a death of a
Mathew in the GRO indexes for 1945 but as there are no ages shown at that
time I am not sure if I have found the right one.

Thanks ever so much.

Hi Gillian,
Here's the 1841 entry as requested:
ref HO107 489-11 folio 31 page 17: North Pole Place, Greenwich West
Matthew Andrews age 60 miller
Sarah do age 55
neither were born in county

No sign of son William, so maybe he became the miller after his father died.

Thanks Carol

That is really brilliant, I think I can now take the plunge and send off for the 1845 death certificate.

Yes I think you are correct and William took over from his father.

Best wishes
Gillian
