Seems to be a tough one this one. Any ideas for further research anyone?

no info. on the Tymons family, but have heard that there are Tymons buried in Kilronan cemetery which is where my gr.grmother Mary McGrath came from. Mary was born in 1858. Kilronan is in Roscommon. Apparently they were very close family friends. Roisin

Hi Twinney
Welcome to RootsChat.
I was interested in your posting about Patrick. I have a record of his birth (which you have now confirmed) Can you tell me anything about Patrick's children (dates places etc.) and grandchildren (of which I know you are one). I might then be able to link up your branch of the family to mine.
I note the spelling you refer to - TIMON, but I have Patrick's birth recorded as TYMON. Probably were interchangeable depending on who wrote it down at the time.
By the way, have you been on my website? www.tymon.org
Best wishes

Co. Sligo, Killoran and Toomour Parishes 1824, 2 John Timons. May be more families in Co. at the time. 4 Co. Sligo Timon families 1749 in Killadoon and Kilross Parishes. In Co. Roscommon found only in the North of the County. 5 Timane families in the Parish of Tibohane ( Frenchpark/Boyle area) in 1749, only 1 of these spelled TIMON- JOHN, an RC cottier + wife and 2 children under 14 years of age in the EASTERSNOW area of the parish. This is near Boyle.
