Title: Comptroller of Customs - Pembroke
Post by: Luap on Tuesday 22 November 05 22:42 GMT (UK)
My Great-Great Grandfather George Chase was Comptroller of Customs in the late 1700's to early 1800's.

Do anyone have any idea on how I can obtain any information on him.

Regards
Paul Chase, Brisbane, Australia

HM Revenue & Customs have a website www.hmrc.gov.uk
On it there is a history of the dept and a link for genalogical research - don't know how good it is, but it's worth a shot!

Julie,
Thank you for your information.
I found a copy of his will which I downloaded. However, I am having difficulty reading it.

Thanks again.

Regards
Paul.

You will find a great deal of information on George Chase and his family and business connections in Richard Rose's 'Pembroke People', Otterquill Books, 2000. See www.otterquillbooks.com
I hope this is useful.
