Hello,
Could I please have a look up for the Brown family living in Wilton on either the 1841 or 1851 ? I am trying to find George Brown's family, he gives his place of birth as Wilton, Wilts.
Thank you
Michelle

Hi Michelle,
Are you expecting George to be with a family or are you just looking to see what families are there? There is no George Brown in either census in Wilton....in 1851 there is a George in Dorset claiming birth in Wilton but he is ages 65 so assuming not likely......sorry Kris :'(

Hello Kris,
Thank you very much for looking for me.
I am indeed trying to find the family of George Brown who is in Dorset in 1851. I had thought he was born in Winterborne Kingston as that is what it said on the transcribed 1851 census that I have. I was then told that on the census it says Wilton Wilts. I found 2 Wiltons on the map, 1 near Salisbury and the other nr Burbage. I thought that if I could find out which village had Brown's on the census it might point to the right village to look in for George's birth. George is my ggg grandfather so I would really like to find his baptism if I can.
Thanks
Michelle :D

Thank you for the census details.
Does it give any hint of which Wilton it is? Or maybe the Wilton nr Burbage was to small to be a Parish in it's own right and is joined with another village.
Thank you very much for your help.

:o i just realised he is georges son :-[

Hi Alli,
Thank you again. I think the Wilton on the census must be the one nr Salisbury if there is only that one, so that has narrowed the search.
Thank you also for the 1841 details. George married in Winterborne Kingston and had his children there, all of which are in the Parish records but no sign of George's baptism.
???
George had a son James 1817 married to Emma Ash, their eldest daughter was Susan 1846, so now I know where they got to :D

Hi Michelle
With reference to your 2005 request, I just wonder if you have over the years come across a George Brown, born Salisbury circa 1837 (son of Robert Brown) who married Mary Pothecary 1st January 1862 at Great Wishford (1Q1862 Wilton 5a 305)? Any leads or possible 1841, 1851 or 1861 references appreciated

Malcolm,
I haven't come across George Brown so had a look on the census but didn't find any George from Salisbury with Robert as a father, sorry. Found a George Brown c1834 Salisbury, working as a servant in Surrey (1861) ???
