Hi, I have info on William Sadler marrying Susan Candler around 1800, but in Somerton, Suffolk. Could there be a connection here?
Regards,

Hi
I have a William Sadler who I think married a Sarah Heath c1826. I have not proved this as yet, but it is possible there could be a connection. The Sadler name carries through each generation until my granduncle, Martin Sadler Rayner b1874. As the family was in Wivenhoe, Essex there could be a connection with Suffolk.

Hi Janette,
The only Essex connections I have at the moment are Gt Horkesley and Lt Horkesley, Prior to 1700 and Bures St Mary in late 1800s'. If I find anything of possible interest I will let you know.
Regards,
David Sadler.

Do you have a Samuel Candler who married a Miss Slattery and had a daughter Sarah Jane Candler born about 1842. Sarah married Henry Valentine Hatch. any info would be great thanks

Hi,
Thanks for e-mail of 4.4.04. The info. I have on Samuel Candler is as follows:-
In 1793 William Sadler (c. 1768) married Susan Butcher in the village of Somerton, Suffolk. It was witnessed by Samuel Candler presumably of the Somerton/Hartest area. They had three children christened, Samuel in 1793 ( with Susan's maiden name of Butcher recorded), Susan in 1795 and John in 1801 with no mother's maiden name recorded. In 1802, 1804 and 1808 a William and Susan Sadler had three children christened in the village, but in these cases the Susan's maiden name is shown as Candler - possible related to the 1793 marriage witness.
I do not know if this is another William and Susan Sadler of Somerton or whether William remarried a second Susan. I have found no evidence yet of a second William and Susan family, so I am assuming a re-marriage.
Rather confused, but I hope this may be of some interest to you.
Regards,
David.

I don't know where the places you mentioned are, are they in Essex or close too.
My Sadlers are still an unknown quantity to me as I haven't been able to find any more about them. The names you mention are the same ones and therefore could possibly be a connection.
The only problem is the places as I don't know that area.
I am definately interested in your information.

I am also looking for Candler. CANDLER, SAMUEL CURTIS (1827-1911), coroner, was born in October 1827 in Norfolk, England, son of Samuel Candler, miller, and his wife Harriet, née Batelle.
I understand that his mother Harriet was murdered in her shop by a man who was subsequently hanged in Yarmouth.
Any further information would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
