Here's the family on the 1861 census - lodger Thomas could be Bartholomew's brother.

RG9/889/104/16 - Horsepath, Oxfordshire

Batholomew Cooper  Head  27  Ag Labourer
Eliza Cooper  Wife  21  [...]
Charles Cooper  Son  12 wks
Thomas Cooper  Lodger  29  Ag Labourer

All born Horsepath.

Eliza's occupation looks like "slop maker" or even "step mother"...  ???

Hi Rambler

That comment could well be correct. The 1841 census of Oxfordshire and North Berkshire has been transcribed and indexed by the members of Oxfordshire FHS (who hold the copyright). The transcription shows :-

HO 107/877/1  Bullingdon  Headington
Folio, Place, H, Surname, Forename, Age, Occpn, Born in county?
 48,             ,  , COOPER      , Thomas      , 7   , Pauper          , y
 48,             ,  , COOPER      , Bartholamew , 7   , Pauper          , y

They were enumerated together at the Headington Union Workhouse !

Interesting ?

Thank you for your reply.
Bartholomew Cooper and Thomas Cooper were twins. Their Mother died and that is why I believe they were in the poorhouse. I would still like to be in contact for more information like how long were they in the poor house and if any other siblings were there as well.
Thanks Clarice

On  1851 census, Bartholomew Cooper, aged 16, is a servant (Farmer's Labourer) with a farmer named John Hom in Horspath.

Can't see twin Thomas at present.

Will have another look tomorrow - just back from a Christmas party and struggling to keep my eyes open...  :P

Thank you for the info on Thomas and his Grandmother Hannah. The information I have from Rambler, Paul, and you is amazing -thank you.
I am putting a family tree on the Cooper family for my youngest brother as a Christmas present (last year) and still no way near finished. This information is really the best news I have had.

HI Clarice,

Following on from your mail via GR, it appears that my Martha Cooper was the daughter of an Eliza Cooper(born c1828 cullem, Berks)

Although this is turning into a bit of a mystery for me. On the '51 Martha is the 9 month old daughter of Eliza Cooper and Joseph Harper. There are also Palmer in laws there too.

Good luck. Will let you know if I find a connection.

Hello Paula
I haven't checked any Cooper people recently. Checking other names but I must go COOPER hunting again as my brother now wishes to have a more complete COOPER background
Thanks for your help
