Hi there,
I'm looking for a Caleb Hartland and his family in the 1851 census. He would either be with his family at home or married living with his wife Jane Hartland formerly Haines. Either way he would be living on Pountney Street, West Wolverhampton as that is where he resided in the 1841,1861 & 1871 censuses. Caleb was born in 1826ish in Wolverhampton to Edward & Mary Hartland, he was a Coffee Mill Maker. He has no marriage record (or to that point no death record?!) as far as i'm aware to Jane Haines (b.1826, Wolverhampton), so as said before he could still be at home with parents.
Thank you to everybody who has taken time to carry out searches in the other censuses I originally requested. :) ;) ;D
Regards,
Peter Thompson.

Hi Gill,
Thank you very much for your help. That is the correct Hartland family, the I.G.I shows Caleb baptised in 1827 to an Edward & Mary Hartland. During the mid 1800's I would say there was only one 'Caleb Hartland' in Staffordshire so I wouldn't worry about the age!
Thanks once again,
Kindest Regards.
Peter.
(Not to sound cheeky I hope! but can anyone out there find the Hartlands in the 1851 census please? Cheers ;))

Hi Gardener,
Thanks a lot, great stuff!!
As I'd said before Caleb Hartland was dead by the 1881 census so your information has helped me narrow down the search for his death record.
Regards,
Peter.

Thanks Willow: I was aware of the excellent Wolverhampton websites, :) but all information is useful.... now where on earth did he die.... ???
-
Thanks for the lookups guys, they're much appreciated.
Haven't been on this site for a while and was pleasantly surprised to see my Hartlands amongst other families have been looked into further!
An update if i may? Caleb Hartland still hasn't been found in way of death records, Wolverhampton Council confirmed to me that he is not buried with or for that matter in the same cemetery as his wife or any of the other mainstream cemeteries in the locality. I'm rather hoping he's in a family plot elsewhere in the city or that a missing persons report will be found in the old newspapers if all else fails??! For such an unusual name combo, Caleb Hartland is proving to be a toughy!
Any more ideas on where to look would be more than appreciated.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Peter
Afraid I don't have any more information on Caleb - I believe the Hartlands came from Sedgeley, so perhaps we ought to look there, but why we can't find his death I have no idea.
Out of interest, where was Jane buried?
I have a little information about Caleb's father Edward (our mutual ancestor) and the descendents of Caleb's brother Joseph, if you're interested..

Hi Cati,
Jane was buried in the Merridale Municipal Cemetery on Jeffcock Road, not too far away from where the family resided.
Any information that you're willing to share on the Hartlands would be much appreciated, I too will provide you with the info I have collected over the past few years.
Peter.

Thanks Peter - it may be a week or two before I get all my hartland info to you as at the moment I'm in the middle of a rather complicated house move (not too far from Jeffcock Road!) - however, I will let you have all the details I have as soon as I can
