Can anyone help me?
I've reached a halt until I can visit Lincolnshire and check out parish records.
I've traced the Dixon family around Epworth, Wroot, Owston, (all Yorkshire) back to South Kelsey, Irby and Bottsford (Bottesford) in Lincolnshire.
My furthest ancestor is Ephraim (Ephriam) Dixon, born South Kelsey, 1768, married Mary ??, children were Moses 1797, Aaron 1798, Ephraim 1800, Mary 1802, John 1805, Alice 1807, Rebecca 1810, Betsey 1812, Eliza1815.
Rebecca seems to have married John Millward and moved to Australia.
One of Aarons sons, Joseph, married Sophia Snowden and moved to America.
Does any of this look familiar and can you help fill in any gaps of marriges of these family members or help me move further back with surnames of Mary or parents & siblings of Ephriam or Mary.
Thanks.

Hi, I came across your (old!)message on Rootschat.com by chance. Your mention of Rebecca Millward, 1810-1888, marrying John Millward & going to Australia is correct. They are my 3x grt grandparents. They settled in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Rebecca died in 1888 & John in 1890. A daughter, Elizabeth Anne B. in England is my grt grt grandmother. I live in Bendigo Victoria, Australia.
Of course, this means that Ephraim Dixon & Mary (Favell ?) are my 4 x grt grandparents. If you are interested I will share info I have on Rebecca Dixon & William Millward's families & descendants.
You may well have traced further back than Ephraim Dixon 1768-1855 by now! but I have do have several later generations of Dixson/Dixon ancestors I am happy to share. Or we maybe we can see if our research matches. I am of course searching English ancestors by internet, there is so much available online these days.

Welcome to Rootschat lynnotluf,
Hopefully Mark will get notification of your posting as he has not been on Rootchat sine 2012.
Marriage;
29 March 1796, St Peter, East Halton, Lincolnshire
Ephraim DIXON of Wootton
Mary BEAL of East Halton
Wiltnesses, David BEEL/Moses DIXAN
Given that Ephraim/Mary name their 1st Son Moses this seems a likely Marriage.
Trish :)
EDIT, It is possible that the Moses Dixon/Dixan, Witess at Ephraims Marriage to Mary in 1796 was a Brother or his Father.
If a Brother the 1841 Census has a Moses Dixon born c 1761 , a Pauper, in the Caistor Workhouse.

This is where the Favell comes in with the Marriage of Ephraim/Marys Son AARON;
Aaron DIXON Married Sarah FAVELL, 14 November 1822 North Kelsey, Lincoln, England

Once more, thank you this information. It is great being able to confirm my research.

I have an Elizabeth Dixon marrying my 5G Grandfather on 21 Oct 1790 in Wooton.
I wonder if there is a connection? Does anyone know?
She appears to have been baptised in Wooton 27 Oct 1771, parents Joseph Dixon and Ann.
Hope to hear from someone as Lincolnshire research is not my forte!
