Hi again...
1901 census;
Solomon etc; living 15 Dartford Road retired police sergeant.
No mention of William.
Found a William 1882 down as a"trooper" from Gravesend, at Regents Park Barracks.
Gravesend is very near to Shorne....I can walk to it from where I live, in fact Shorne Woods and the village is just over the back of us  ;D
Could this be your William? migrated whilst serving with the barracks.
Good Luck....Iris

Dear Iris,
             Thanks for the infomation the mystery is what happened to William, as he was born 1878 he could not have been in the Armyin 1882 . I was aware of the Oliver Family living in Kent thanks for the info re Lillian 1885 and Harry T 1887 they dont appear they may have died at birth  my Grand Mother was Jane Oliver who married George Alfred Wakeling 1899 (George's Father is also a mystry) But thats another story
                      Regards Doug Wakeling
ps sorry for not getting back sooner wasn't sure re the procedure

Hi Doug
should have made it clearer. The William that was in Regents Park Barracks was from the 1901 census, so if he was born in 1882 as it says, he would have been 19 years old. It could well be your William, I have found lots of varietions in dates in my families....when it is the same person !!!
Best wishes and hope you find your William :).....Iris
