Tati - you found my George Bramley possibly on the 1871 census, do you have info on any earlier census returns such as 1841? he is on the 1851 living in Newfield Durham age 15 orn in Coxhoe and he is an enginewright. can anyone give me any info on Coxhoe?

Sorry, I don't have access to 1841.
When searching for a place, first thing I do is to google genuki+placename. It ususally comes up with interesting info.

Hello Wobble,I can let you know that Coxhoe is in Durham approx 11 miles north of Durham City on the A177(very close to Tony Blairs constituency)it is more of a vllage than a township.

Coxhoe is actually 4 miles South of Durham City ( Hence four mile bridge at Coxhoe which marks the Northern boundary of the village and the distance to Durham City) 11 miles north of Durham would place you on the edge of Tyne and Wear
