I am seeking any information regarding this Regiment circa 1900. My Grandfather was a member of this Regiment at this time and as far a I know he was stationed at Dundalk Military Barracks, Co. Louth, Ireland.
The grandfather that I seek was JAMES MOORE.
The only information that I have is from my Father's birth certificate registered in the District of Dundalk, County of Louth on 20th Feb 1901.
Name & dwelling place of Father - James Moore, Military Barracks.
Rank or profession of Father - Gymnastic Instructor 8th Hussars.
I believe his rank to have been Captain, though not neccessarily at this time. I can only guess that he would have been born somewhere between 1855 and 1865. I do not even know whether he was born in Ireland or England.
Is anyone aware of any records of personnel at this period or perhaps Census record extracts - 1901?
Any help greatly appreciated, so far all my investigations have come to a dead end.

Hi Wendy
If you click on the user names you will see that neither poster has been on for a while. It would be better if you cancelled your post and raise a new thread. You also need to ask a specific question. The army in 1830 was very different from the end of the century, so even if this thread was active your query would cause confusion.
