Thx Pat--------I REALLY appreciate your interest, but................the word Presbyterian makes these Aytons impossible: the staunch Catholic line goes far far back in family history stories on that side of the family ( I actually knew my own grandfather who was born in Raphoe in 1882 (James, same as his father born there 1832)-----I'm sure presbyterians would have been regarded as alien beings ;)
My thx for your kind interest...........Roncoach

There are still Aytons in Raphoe who are Catholics
-
Hi there and thx Anne----------I'm sure there are...... Contact them all and ask if any have done Family History Research???? I will look into it........I don't know how------but I will :). My thanks to you

I have come across that Ayton family you mentioned and have quite a bit of material on them.

thx L.A.--------you're very kind to take an interest. It is MUCH appreciated. Before proceeding, just to make sure we are on the right lines together, could you please just confirm that it's the same family: the easiest way to do so would be if you could give me 3 facts relating to my Grandfather James Ayton, b Raphoe 1882---what date?): 1. Who did he marrry and when? (my grandmother). 2 Who were James's parents (my greats), when born and married?. 3.Any info on my grandmother's family please. If you have the same details as me re those 3 items............then I would know I wasn't wasting your time by discussing further. I find it is best to take this approach initially..........as I really do hate wasting kind folks' valuable time....just to find that I have led them into research on a different branch altogether. I very much look forward to hearing from you-----and TU again.............. :)

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, The info that I have is based on the 1821,1831,1841,1851 and 1861 census returns.
Theses were destroyed in 1922 when two irish terrorists groups were fighting each other.
I was lucky to find that the Protestant Bishop of Raphoe had copies made for the entire Raphoe parish for each census up until 1861 and its these census returns that I have copied.

So what's the problem to answering the questions above ( I already know the answers) if you have the entire lost history of Donegal since Brian Boru ?????:))))
-
Are you a Tim
-
1. I have no idea who or what "Tim" is ???
2. Do you have Raphoe records ? If so, I just asked some simple questions----just answer one of them ; if "no": why ???
3. Are you wanting money?
4. Are you the Rootsweb prankster? If so: ROTFLOL.

If you need help you have to give us some details to start with (names, dates and places if knwon) and explain exactly what you are looking to find. Recent details will not be likely to be found online (for example, civil registration index stops at 1958) but we can suggest where you might want to look next.
