Title: Marriage Edmund Lewis & Elizabeth - Whitchurch

Hi,

Is it possible to find a marriage for Edmund Lewis born 1797/1801 to a Elizabeth ??? born about 1816 both Whitchurch.

Their first child Alfred was born abt 1838 Whitchurch.

 suggest you ask if anyone has the St mary's Church booklette issued my Glamorgan family history society on birth's marriages and deaths ..
Or you could get the booklette from Galamorgan family history. I have the info but it's on fiche and no way to read it but this will have the marriage and births if the family lived in Whitchurch.
If I can be of any real help let me know.

Did you manage to find the information you were seeking?

I have the Whitchurch parish indexes at home and will have a look tonight for you if you still need this information.


Meanwhile I've found this :

Edmund b. 18 JUN 1797 Whitchurch (died 21 jan 1853 in Cardiff according to cambrian index c10)

If this is the right one (parents Edmund and Rachel Lewis (nee John)) then Edmund was the elder brother of William(b.1806) who was one of my ancestors.

I'd be glad to share any other information if it is the same family.

Edmund and William work out as my 1st cousins 4 times removed - bit distant I know but I collect all ancestors.

I have their parents info if you need it - but I would appreciate any other info you can send me.

Hi Lizzieloop,

I've had a look in the St Mary/Whitchurch index but there is nothing in there unfortunately (apart from a record of Edmunds birth in 1797).

I've found an Alfred Lewis born in Cardiff in 1838 on the free ancestry.co.uk BMD search.
I'll email you the details.

Is it possible that Edmund and Elizabeth were married in Cardiff instead?
(Alfred's birth, if it's correct, is listed as Cardiff as is Edmund's death).

It might be worth contacting the Glamorgan Records Office GlamRO[at]cardiff.ac.uk     (please replace [at] with @) to see if they can help.

If your still looking this a possible...maybe Alfred was born to Elizabeth only, Edmund only (another wife?) or before they married.
