Hi Maur,

This is the first time I have seen such a strange query. Two little squares. They must mean something but there is no written explanation explaining what they are about.
I look forward to learning more.

Best Wishes, Chris

Hi Chris,

I obviously missed clicking a button or something, blame it on being a "newbee" to Rootschat.  It is the first time I have posted a query. I have much to learn in this computer research age although I have been researching family history for over 25 years now.

This is what I wanted to ask ....... Where do I begin to find information on JOHN EDWARDS who was a Colonel in the English Army.  His daughter Mary Humphreys (nee Edwards) stated that he was deceased and a Colonel in the English Army when she arrived in Australia in 1851.  She had been born approx. 1793 in Carno, Montgomeryshire, Wales.  Her mother was Mary Rowland.  I don't know if Mary had any other siblings.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Sincerely
Maur.

Hi Maur,

These look good starting points.

British Military Rrecords for ancestors who served in the British Army during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. http://www.mod.uk/contacts/army_records.htm
Here is another possible site - British Army Records to 1913
www.btinternet.com/~lawrence.woodcock/british_army_records.htm

Best wishes meantime, Chris
