Hi can anybody help with this I am looking for the family of Christiana Cross who was born around 1828 at (taken from a London census 1871 so maybe not too accurate) Rotland Kilteam Ross and Cromerty, this is the only census where the place in Scotland has been added all the rest say Scotland so suspect Christiana gave this information.
Best Regards.

If you find out more about your CROSS family I'd be interested to know.
I have a Margaret Cross born in Knockbain, R&C, ca 1857, (according to 1881 census) daughter of Hector Cross and Margaret (nee Morrison). Hector was a flesher (butcher).
If you find anything about your Cross family that connects with this I'd be glad to know.
Thanks,
Quester

HI Quester
Welcome to RootsChat :)
By the look of it, your Margaret Cross was born c. 1852 not 1857. This is a submitted entry for her on IGI:
Margaret Cross Birth: 1852 Scotland
Death: 27 AUG 1889
Parents: Father: Hector Cross Mother: Margaret Morrison
Regards.

From the 1861 Census, it would appear that mother Margaret Morrison may have died and Hector father has remarried:
Cristy Cross, 40, wife, b. Gairloch, Ross-shire
Hester Cross, 51, Flesher, b. Contin, Ross-shire
Margrat Cross, 9, daughter, b. Knockbain
Mary Cross, 1, daughter, b. Knockbain
Address: Muchernick, Knockbain
Regards.

This is the only marriage showing on IGI for a Hector and Margaret, an actual extract from the OPRs. Because of the location, not sure if your couple:
HECTOR CROSS Marriages: Spouse: MARGARET MORRISON
Marriage: 01 DEC 1837 Saint Vigeans, Angus, Scotland
No children show for this couple, other than the submitted entry for Margaret 1852.
Can't see an entry for Hector's marriage to Christy on IGI, and nothing shows on Scotlands People post 1855-60.
This looks like a possible for Hector's birth on IGI, an actual extract from the OPRs:
HECTOR CROSS Birth: 10 DEC 1808 Contin, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland
Parents: Father: HECTOR CROSS Mother: MARY MATHESON

This looks like the birth details for daughter Mary born in 1859 with second wife:
MARY CROSS Birth: 30 APR 1859 Knockbain, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland
Parents: Father: HECTOR CROSS Mother: CHRISTINA MARY MC KENZIE
-
This looks like Hector and Margaret in Knockbain in the 1851 Census before Margaret was born:
Hector Cross, 44, Flesher, b. Urray
Margaret Cross, 37, b. Gairloch
Annabella Cross, 9, b. Knockbain
Hector Cross, 7, b. Knockbain
Alexander Cross, 3, b. Knockbain
Address: Arpafilie, Knockbain, R & C
Regards.

Hi Geno500
I see you posted this quite a while ago, but do get in touch with me if you have any further information on the Crosses. I believe Roderick Cross might have been a brother of one of my ancestors, Alexander Cross, who was a witness at the marriage of Roderick's daughter Isabella. Alexander was born in Dingwall, Ross-shire in 1797 (near Kiltearn where Roderick lived), and was a son of William and Anne Cross.
Cheers
