Title: Finding a living person in Sussex?
Post by: AmyUK on Tuesday 25 October 05 12:22 BST (UK)
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help me locate a relative that the family have lost touch with.
I asked in the general forum if anyone could do a search on the 192 site and someone found my relative in the 2003 electoral role for West Sussex, i have looked for her on the BT website but can't find her (it is possible that she isn't registered with BT) is there anyother way that i can find out if she is still alive? Does anyone have a current phone/address directory for West Sussex that they can look for her in if i pm her last name and initial?

Amy

Amy,
Have you thought of sending in a letter ot the local newspaper to see if you can find her in the area you specify?

Amy if you are in the UK you can find all current telephone directories in your local Library - ours has them for the entire UK in the reference section.

I hadn't thought of doing that, perhaps if i have no luck from the library and get no reply from the address in 2003 we have for her then i will give that a go.

I live in West Sussex and could look for you but all phone numbers are on www.bt.com if you have a town or postcode to search so they may be ex directory.  A current electoral roll?

I don't live in the UK, so have become dependent on finding alternate sources.  The following have sometimes been helpful:

http://www.infobel.com/uk/
http://www.ukphonebook.com/ (link at bottom of screen)
http://www.192.com/
http://www.tracesmart.co.uk/?page=peoplesearch  (I think you have to pay for this one)

Thankyou for the reply but i did manage to contact her and was in touch via letters for a few years as this message was started in 05. I haven't heard from her in about a year, even though i have still sent an Easter card and a Birthday card, she would be 95 now how do i find out if she is o.k?

Hi Amy

Why don't you just send a letter addressed to "The current occupier" at her address, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope? You can explain you are trying to find out if your relative is alright. Hopefully she will reply herself, or if the house has changed hands the occupiers might know what has happened to her. If you have just sent cards, unless you put your address on the back of the envelope they couldn't be returned to you.

or you could post her village here if someone is local they could pop a note through the door for you.  Its worth trying to stay in touch in case something has happened if no relatives are known you could contact the local council offices and give them your details as an incase of emergency

This thread is nearly 7 years old, I wonder if the poster had any luck "refinding" her relative 2 years ago?

Good evening,

A surefire way to find out if someone is still alive is to check the death register.  ::) ::) ::)
